Supporters of PN leader Adrian Delia have set up their own Facebook page as a direct response to similar action by a group of PN supporters who are calling on the Opposition leader to resign.
The Facebook page was created on July 23rd and is called ‘Respect Democracy’, a clear dig at the ‘Save Democracy’ slogan adopted by the anti-Delia campaign.
Even the colours of the slogans are practically identical to each other – a dark blue background with white text and red and white strips.
The group was created in the run-up to the much-awaited General Council meeting tomorrow (Saturday), where councillors will take a vote of confidence in Adrian Delia’s leadership.
As of the time of writing, the page has gained 368 likes, this considering that it has been active for only three days.
The page has been shared by the likes of PN Marsa councillor Charmaine Aquilina (who is also an administrator of the popular ‘Grupp PN’ Facebook forum for PN supporters) and the President of the youth wing TeamSTART Thomas De Martino.
A quick look at the reaction of De Martino’s post will also indicate that executive members of Team Start, as well as the young St. Julian’s councillor Sean Gauci, have also liked his status in favour of the PN leader.
The page started off its social media activity focusing on the importance of voting ‘IVA’ (YES) when the General Council convenes on Saturday
It has also posted two videos taking aim at Ivan Bartolo, who is one of the main figures urging councillors to vote against Delia.
One of them shows a few seconds of an interview Ivan Bartolo gave The Malta Independent before the 2017 General Election. It points to his alleged hypocrisy, as in the video he states that Simon Busuttil should not resign whatever the result.
