Rickety Sliema Repair Works ‘Fixed’ After Arnold Cassola Calls It Out Online
An extremely dangerous looking land bridge built to temporarily help navigate Sliema roadworks has been replaced by a concrete filling a day after Independent Candidate Arnold Cassola complained about the works.
“Sliema, Cassola always moaning!” Cassola commented jokingly, referring to the numerous criticisms he receives from trolls about his frequent social media rants.
“First photo yesterday, before the moaning. Second photo today, after the moaning”, he wrote letting the images speak for themselves.
Online, a lot of the comments that followed praised Cassola’s doggedness.
“Imnalla there is Arnold Cassola, dejjem jeqred… Making us aware of the shoddy environment we live in,. Keep it up, Arnold,” said one person.
“Prosit Arnold, keep it up you are appreciated you have no idea,” enthused another.
Others criticised the way that the repairs where done.
“But still shoddy work.”
“So shoddy and unprofessional. Is this the end result ????”
“This is just how they do it now. They even patched a historic brick road in Birkirkara UCA, with konkos,” were just some of the criticisms left online.
Though the speed of the repairs is to be commended, there really should be more rigorous standards as we seem to be regressing into a patchwork of “temporary” repairs. Let’s just hope that next time something like this happens, Cassola is right around the corner.
