Ricky Caruana had offered to air his new TVM debate show at 11pm during talks with fellow presenter Ron Briffa.

The popular podcaster, who has landed the coveted Friday 9:15pm time slot for his new debate programme, said he was open to any schedule during talks with PBS and Ron.

“I told Ron that he could host his show at 9:15pm and I’d happily go on at 11pm to midnight – people would tune in to watch me anyway,” Ricky explained.

In the end, PBS decided that Friday nights would kick off with Ricky’s debate show, followed by Ron’s lighter entertainment programme Fixfixow at 10:15pm.

Ricky also dismissed speculation that a social media stunt by Ron – teasing his own new show – had been a dig at him.

“Some newspapers claimed there was an attack, but all it really did was give us free advertising,” he said.

Ron confirmed the same version of events.

“Ricky told me he didn’t want to take someone’s place,” he told Lovin Malta.

“He was very kind throughout the discussions and we’re completely fine. There’s absolutely no beef between us at all.”
