‘Robert Abela Is Rewarding Those Who Turned TVM Into Super One 2’- PN Secretary General
PN Secretary General Michael Piccinino warned that Norma Saliba’s decision to contest the PL presidency shows that Robert Abela is “rewarding those who turned PBS into Super One 2”.
Saliba, a TVM journalist for several years, was promoted to head of news in 2020 and remained in that position until 2023, when she was appointed head of a new national centre for the Maltese language.
“Robert Abela is rewarding those who turned the public broadcaster into Super One 2,” Piccinino said.
“While Norma Saliba was head of news, PBS was found guilty in three instances of breaching the PN’s fundamental rights. She now said that Robert Abela invited her to contest for the role of PL president.”
“Robert Abela is rewarding those who breached the Opposition’s fundamental rights. He is rewarding those who turned the public broadcaster into Super One 2 and who turned PBS into a personal propaganda machine.”
She will be up against lawyer and former Msida mayor Alex Sciberras, who announced yesterday that he was contesting the role that has been vacated by Ramona Attard.
