Prime Minister Robert Abela has praised Neil Agius after the ultra-endurance swimmer completed his Gozo 7 challenge, swimming around the island for seven consecutive days and spending around 15 hours in the water each day.

In a social media post, Abela said Neil’s achievement proves that “mindset is everything” and shows how resilience can help people overcome even the toughest challenges.

“What Neil did was not just for himself but for all of us, so that every time we feel demotivated or tired in the face of a challenge or situation, we recognise how capable we are of being resilient and strong in front of any obstacle,” Abela wrote.

The Prime Minister said the message carries even greater weight coming from a Maltese athlete, adding: “We are immensely proud of you, Neil.”
