Robert Abela Visits Former Prime Minister Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici In Hospital
Prime Minister Robert Abela visited former Prime Minister Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici as he’s recovering in hospital – and he shared an update on his condition.
“I enjoyed speaking with Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici who said he is feeling better, so much so that he’s expecting to be released from Mater Dei soon,” Abela said.
Mifsud Bonnici, 89, entered hospital on 21st August.
Messages of support for Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici have started flooding across social media after reports that Malta’s former Prime Minister is no longer in a critical condition.
He served as Prime Minister between 1984 and 1987. He was admitted into the hospital on Sunday. However, he is now stable.
Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne was among those who wished Mifsud Bonnici well on social media.
Mifsud Bonnici’s admittance into hospital comes soon after another former Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami was hospitalised. However, he has since been discharged.
Mifsud Bonnici succeeded Dom Mintoff as Prime Minister in 1984, after being appointed Deputy Leader in 1980. However, his tenure was marred by turmoil and political violence.
