Robert Abela Wants ‘Genuine Apology’ From Rosianne Cutajar Before Bringing Her Back To Labour

Prime Minister Robert Abela has said he expects a “genuine apology” from independent MP Rosianne Cutajar before reintegrating her back into the party.

Questioned by MaltaToday, Abela said that internal discussion on Cutajar’s potential reintegration is still ongoing, two months after he publicly declared his willingness to reintegrate her.

However, he said that Cutajar must be ready to apologise for her actions.

“I believe that when someone expresses genuine regret and a genuine apology, she must be given a second chance,” he said, without clarifying whether he was expecting a public apology or whether an internal apology would suffice.

Neither did the Prime Minister clarify what exactly he expected Cutajar to apologise for.

Cutajar was forced to resign from the PL parliamentary group last year after Mark Camilleri published her WhatsApp history with murder suspect Yorgen Fenech.

In those chats, Cutajar had told Fenech that “everyone is pigging out” when talking about her former ITS consultancy position that the National Audit Offie warned was likely a phantom job.

Cutajar already dropped a libel suit against Camilleri out of respect to her PL reintegration process but it seems there is more she must do if she is to return to her former party.

Should Rosianne Cutajar be allowed back into the Labour Party?
