Roberta Metsola Has Two Words For Kremlin After European Parliament’s Website Hit By Cyberattack
Roberta Metsola has pushed back against Russia after a pro-Kremlin hacker group claimed responsibility for a DDoS cyberattack on the European Parliament’s website.
The European Parliament president said yesterday that the website was hit by a sophisticated attack moment after the EP voted to declare Russia a state sponsor of terrorism.
Killnet, a pro-Russian hacker group known for its DoS and DDos attacks, claimed responsibility for the cyberattack and said that it “officially recognises the European Parliament as sponsored of homosexualism”.
Metsola issued two words in response to the attack – the Ukrainian battlecry “Slava Ukraini”.
Her statement was noticed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who thanked Metsola for her strong support of his country.
Yesterday, the European Parliament overwhelmingly voted in favour of declaring Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism due to Moscow’s attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine.
“The deliberate attacks and atrocities committed by Russian forces and their proxies against civilians in Ukraine, the destruction of civilian infrastructure and other serious violations of international and humanitarian law amount to acts of terror and constitute war crimes,” the Parliament said.
It was a symbolic vote as the EU cannot designate states as sponsors of terrorism.
