Roberta Metsola Praises ‘Mara Tal-Azzar’ Isabelle Bonnici On Women’s Day
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola paid tribute to Isabelle Bonnici, mother of the late Jean Paul Sofia.
“With a woman of steel on Women’s Day,” Metsola wrote as she published a photo of herself and Bonnici.
“Thank you, Isabelle, for inspiring the people of Malta and Gozo. Thank you for your determination, your bravery, and your courage. Every single one of us can learn a lot from you.”
Bonnici’s quest for a public inquiry for her son, despite heavy government resistance, is one of the most successful campaigns in recent Maltese history.
The public inquiry findings were recently published and led to the resignation of several public officials, with Prime Minister Robert Abela pleading to reform the construction industry accordingly.
