Robots And AI In Malta’s Public Services: Tech Focus In First Ever Exposition Of Its Kind

A dazzling display of technology is on show as Malta holds its first Public Service Expo which opened Wednesday at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali.
During the opening ceremony speech in the presence of public service leaders representing 55,000 civil servants, Principal Permanent Secretary Tony Sultana declared that public administration is the motor and social heart of the country.
He described this centrality as a privilege – despite the weight of the responsibilities it carries.
A compelling line-up of speaker, panellists, engaging stands, demos, spontaneous workshops and interactive activities are part and parcel of this exposition – aimed to both inform and entertain attendees.

Sultana believes that public administration was crucial in creating a digital economy.
In this light, he said that one of the Government’s goals was a comprehensive switch into the digital realm – so this expo was set up to reflect and exemplify public service work.
Sultana encouraged the use of artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency of human work.
“No AI tool will replace a person’s role – but they will serve as added value.”
The Expo will go on till 19.00 today and will be open 12.30 to 17.00 tomorrow.
