Robots To Be Used In Surgeries At Mater Dei Hospital

In a groundbreaking development for Maltese healthcare, Mater Dei Hospital has started using surgical robots in its procedures. Especially for cancer-related operations.

The Health Minister, Chris Fearne, shared updates on this pivotal change through Facebook. In his post,

“Mater Dei Hospital continuing to invest in training health professionals in the use of robotics across various surgical fields,” Health Minister Chris Fearne said, sharing updates on this pivotal change through Facebook.

 

 

In another post, Minister Fearne emphasised the significance of this technological advancement, saying the robotic surgeries “will lead to better results for our patients”.

 

Over the past few weeks, the hospital has already witnessed its first series of surgeries performed with the help of a Surgical Robot. These interventions primarily focused on the bladder and the colon. By next month, the use of this cutting-edge robot will be expanded, especially for surgeries concerning cancer in these two body parts.
