Role Of Project Managers On Construction Sites Being Defined In Consultation Process

The Ministry for Public Works and Planning and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority has initiated a consultation process concerning potential changes to Legal Notice 88 of 2018, which outlines the Minimum Health and Safety Requirements for Work at Construction Sites.
The proposed amendments aim to grant project supervisors the necessary authority to fulfil their responsibilities, which are also being clarified in the negal notice.
In addition, a new non-liability clause is being introduced, which will prevent duty holders from pursuing legal action against project supervisors for any act carried out in accordance with the regulations, unless the supervisor acted negligently.
The updated regulations will also provide greater clarification on the roles and responsibilities of contractors, self-employed individuals, and workers.
Interested parties can access a draft of the regulations on the OHSA’s website and are encouraged to provide comments by contacting the OHSA by email or in-person before 30th March.
