Romanian Man Arrested In Connection To Drug Importation In Swieqi

A 40-year-old Romanian was arrested in connection with an alleged importation of cannabis in Swieqi yesterday.

Following receiving information related to drug importation activities, officers stopped the man while he was in his vehicle.

The police’s information proved fruitful when they discovered 10 kilograms of a substance suspected to be cannabis, divided into several packages, during a vehicle search.

Magistrate Nadine Lia was informed of the discovery and initated an inquiry.

Members from the Customs Department assisted the Police in the investigation.

The man is being held at the Police General Headquarters in Floriana and was brought before Magistrate Victor Axiak in court today at around 11 am.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
