Rosianne Cutajar Drops Libel Suit Against Mark Camilleri
Rosianne Cutajar has announced that she has dropped a libel suit she had opened against Mark Camilleri for alleging corruption in his “Rent Seekers Paradise” book.
Cutajar said she took this decision out of respect to the ongoing process within the Labour Party that could see her reintegrated as a PL MP and because her life priorities have changed since she sued him for libel three years ago.
“The truth is that no compensation by the courts can ever do justice with me after the insensitive and cruel actions I suffered. I look forward to continuing working with and for the people as I did for the past 14 years.”
Camilleri said that Cutajar’s decision is a “clear admission of guilt” and that he rejects the cancellation of the libel suit.
“I write the truth and, for this, Rosianne Cutajar tried to silence me, bully me in publicm and try to take money from me, a writer without a salary,” he said. “ONE’s propagandists used her case to harm my reputation and portray me as a liar who is scared to go to court. Not only was I not afraid, but even though I don’t live in Malta, I paid from my pocket to take long trips to Malta for Rosianne’s cases.”
“Rosianne expects to be corrupt, bully people, harm others and remain in politics as though nothing happened. This is unacceptable behaviour and I will not allow people in power to bully me like this.”
“I will dedicate my energy and time with my impeccable lawyers to prepare all the necessary paperwork for the police to prosecute Roseanne Cutajar criminally. A criminal complaint (kwerela) will force the police to take action.”
