‘Safeguard Educators’, Union Urges In Light Of Shocking MCAST Student-Lecturer Footage
The Union of Professional Educators (UPE) has urged the Ministry of Education to intervene promptly to safeguard educators in light of shocking footage of a fight between a student and a lecturer at MCAST’s Paola campus.
“The union vehemently opposes such conduct and urges the Ministry of Education to intervene promptly to safeguard educators,” UPE head Graham Sansone said.
“Video evidence, captured by a student, depicts a distressing altercation wherein a teacher is seen admonishing a student to leave the classroom, met with defiance.”

“Subsequently, the teacher’s actions escalate to slamming on the desk, followed by the student striking the teacher in the face. The circumstances precipitating this confrontation remain undisclosed.”
The incident happened yesterday and the Education Ministry is looking into it.
