San Andrea School Stands Firm Amid Controversy: Allegations Dismissed By Judicial Inquiry
A recent independent judicial inquiry commissioned by San Andrea School has dismissed most of the allegations made by its former assistant head, Trevor Templeman, who claimed the school was involved in significant financial mismanagement.
“The independent judicial inquiry commissioned by San Andrea School rubbished most of the claims made by its former assistant head, who persists in making unsubstantiated and fallacious allegations that serve no purpose other than to tarnish the school’s reputation.”
The school board has shared the full 73-page report with all school members and parents, demonstrating its commitment to transparency and good governance.
“We have acted with utmost transparency to ensure we can start afresh and rebuild trust for the sake of all our children. Where things are broken we will fix them and ensure that any actions that need to be taken will be taken.”
Templeman’s claims led to a tumultuous period for the school, during which principal Stefania Bartolo voluntarily stepped down to “set a good example in corporate good governance” and to defend her reputation. Bartolo’s legal team has since clarified that her resignation was not linked to any alleged mismanagement, and she had no role in handling school funds during her tenure.
“The San Andrea School Board has acted with utmost professionalism and transparency in investigating allegations of wrongdoing made in the school’s regard, contrary to claims made by its former assistant head Trevor Templeman whose sole interest has been to preserve his own reputation at the expense of the facts.”
The inquiry found that many of Templeman’s claims were without merit. Contrary to Templeman’s claim that he was bullied when he spoke out, the inquiry found that Templeman himself had acted aggressively and made fellow colleagues feel humiliated.
“We thank Mr Templeman for his past contribution and without a doubt this chapter will lead to the adoption of better accountability and good governance practices. But we will not allow a situation where unsubstantiated claims continue to be made to the detriment of the school.”
In response to Templeman’s claim that the school “leaked selective parts” from the independent judicial inquiry, the board clarified that the full report was shared with all school members and parents.
