San Anton School Calling All Former Alumni To Walk Ahead Of Tomorrow’s Demonstration
San Anton School has called on members of the school’s community to join them for a walk in solidarity with the Caruana Galizia family to be held an hour before tomorrow’s demonstration in Valletta.
Reaching out to students, parents, teachers, past alumni, and members of the San Anton community in their message, the school has implored for everyone to come together in light of this atrocious attack on one of Malta’s leading journalists.
All three of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s sons attended San Anton School, so the journalists assassination has struck especially close to home for many there. Ian Mifsud, Director General of the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education, has asked everyone to be “cognisant of the beacon we represent to so many youngsters.”
Reiterating that this national demonstration on Sunday will be non-political and peaceful, people were asked to bring their “drawings, cards, and flowers” with them.
This Sunday’s demonstration comes at the end of a shocking week for Maltese society, in which the freedom of speech of the country has been targeted. With events commemorating Caruana Galizia’s memory occurring daily since her death on Monday, this Sunday’s march may be the largest one of all.
A silent protest will also be held in London this Sunday at 4pm.
