Feeling like you can’t breathe properly with this intense heat? Soaring temperatures might not be weird for this particular time of year in Malta, but even the most seasoned of summer lovers will have their work cut out for them this weekend.

As Europe braces itself for the hottest temperature to ever be recorded on the continent – an absolutely ridiculous 48°C in Spain – the Maltese Islands will get their fair share of hot AF. With a yellow temperature warning already issued for Thursday morning, this weekend’s weather forecast for Malta is not looking too good for people who aren’t fans of this heat.

You might look at the forecast for this weekend in Malta and feel relieved at the relatively ‘cool’ 33°C up on offer… but then again, it was always about the dreaded apparent temperature, isn’t it?

Malta is looking at temperatures that will feel like 38°C for most of the next three days.

Yep, that’s right. Today is setting the scene for a very hot Friday, Saturday and Sunday which will see the temperatures fall just shy of 40°C. And while the archipelago has seen similar temperatures this summer, we’re willing to bet that the continent’s record-breaking digits just beyond our shores will have an effect on this weekend being a pretty brutal one.

In fact, we’re officially at that point where we’re looking forward to Sunday… just because the weather will be mainly sunny (did somebody say “possible cloud cover”?!) and the apparent temperature will budge down by one, to 37°C.

If you’ve been out after sunset, you’ll know that things haven’t really been cooling down as much recently. This weekend offers no exception; lows over the next day will never go down below 23°C, and the weak Force 2 and 3 winds won’t offer much in the way of fresh evening breezes either.

The only piece of consolation for people who hate this heat is that the winds will at least be northwesterly and not southern gusts straight from the desert. Oh, and it can literally be worse. In Spain. With 48°C. Eesh.

Tag someone who can’t wait for cooler days!
