Second Night Without Electricity Across Parts Of Birkirkara, Santa Venera After Third Fault Occurs
Residents in a number of areas across Birkirkara and Santa Venera were left without electricity for a second night after a power cable supplying the area developed a third fault within two days.
Power has now been returned to the area, Enemalta confirmed, apologising for any inconvenience.
As repairs were underway, electricity supply in two substations was restored through generators.
Necessary repair works were underway early this morning on the affected substations, and once these are finalised the affected homes will be disconnected from generators and re-connected to the grid, Enemalta said.
Yesterday, residents across Birkirkara and Santa Venera were left fuming after being unable to access electricity for multiple hours.
“Still no electricity in Birkirkara – and over 12 hours have passed,” one resident complained to Lovin Malta.
“Items in fridges and freezers are going to end up wasted and thrown away! People even store medication in their fridges which costs a lot of money! This is beyond ridiculous – and with the summer heat it’s unbearable!”
“Is it really too much to ask to have a constant, uninterrupted supply of electricity in 2022?” asked another person online.
