A woman who needed to go to a pharmacy on Sunday after falling ill and barely being able to move has publicly thanked her cab driver after he paid for her trip himself.

The story, shared in popular Facebook group, RUBS, recieved over 4,200 reactions within 24 hours, as well as hundreds of positive comments. ”

“Very well served by this kind gentleman,” the woman started, sharing a photo of cab driver Amin.

“I was in a lot of pain because I had a Fibromyalgia attack and needed to go to a pharmacy but since I could barely move and it’s a Sunday, no pharmacies are open nearby and I had to call a taxi even thought I would have loved to spare the expense,” she continued.

After being picked up, she started chatting with the cab driver, and the pair hit it off.

“This gentleman picked me up and we started talking and I explained why I had to go to the pharmacy and we talked about life and how hard it’s becoming with prices going sky high and so on.”

But when she returned back home and went to pay him, she realised something was up.

“He drove me back home and I got the money ready to pay him and he told me ‘it’s paid already’,” she said. “I was confused and went to check if I had pressed pay by card but I was sure I didn’t as my card is empty at the moment and I asked him to verify because there was a mistake, I hadn’t paid for my ride.”

“He just turned around and said it’s ok, no mistake, I paid your ride because you are very kind and I wanted to do something nice for you.”

“I tried to pay him because that is what he works for like all of us but he insisted. I thanked him and told him that was so nice of him and I wouldn’t forget his kind gesture. It was a selfless beautiful kindness and it made my day, I’m still smiling.”

The kind gesture was met with praise by Maltese netizens, who lauded the selfless act, especially with someone who was battling a health issue.

“Reading this message made me shed a tear. Felt happiness reading about such an act of kindness as nowadays we get to ready about so many bad things,” said one person.

“It happened to my mum and sister (Down Syndrome),” said another. “God bless these people
Kindness is still around.”
