An entertainment programme hosted by titled Serata Ma’ Ron will be replacing Xarabank’s Friday night slot on TVM.

As first revealed by Lovin Malta, the new programme is to be presented by local actor and personality Ronald Briffa.

Briffa has quite vast experience in Maltese TV and radio, including on the popular children’s TV show Mini Bugz and the food comedy show Purée. He recently co-hosted a satirical TVM show with Luke Dalli and a NET FM radio show with Martin Sapiano.

Xarabank was pulled off air last week, after 23 years of weekly episodes.

The show remained one of the most popular shows on Maltese television, oftentimes leading to widespread discussions on key social issues over two decades.

However, tonight, host Peppi Azzopardi will interview PN leadership rivals Adrian Delia and Bernard Grech in a 90-minute special broadcast aired live on the Facebook pages of both Xarabank and Lovin Malta.

The programme will air at 8.30pm on the Facebook pages of Lovin Malta and Xarabank.

Prime Minister Robert Abela had questioned Xarabank’s longstanding slot when calling for reform at PBS during his PL leadership campaign earlier this year, but he insisted during an interview with Lovin Malta last week that he had no role in the programme’s removal.
