A number of localities in central Malta have been left without water due to a power shortage impacting the Water Services Corporation’s (WSC) boosting station in Naxxar.

Residents from Naxxar spoke with Lovin Malta, detailing how they haven’t had electricity or water since yesterday evening.

A resident told Lovin Malta that the blame for the lack of water was Enemalta’s when speaking with the WSC, with barely any other explanation provided.

Speaking with Lovin Malta, a spokesperson for the WSC confirmed that the water supply was affected for residents due to the power cut impacting the area’s water boosting station.

A water boosting station is a facility designed to increase the pressure and flow of water in elevated areas.

“Supply is now open and slowly filling up. Customers should have water in the next two to three hours,” a spokesperson confirmed.

It wasn’t just Naxxar which was impacted – Għargħur, Iklin, Swieqi, Madliena, Mosta, and San Ġwann have also had their water supply affected.

“Consumers residing in these localities may be affected by an interruption in the water supply due to a technical fault. Works are being carried out and the water supply shall be restored at around 10am,” WSC announced on Facebook.

The San Niklaw boosting station near Għar Lapsi was also impacted.
