‘Sex On TVM’: Jason Micallef Slams PBS’s ‘Ethics And Standards’ Over Love Island Malta Airing
Chairman of the Valletta Cultural Agency Jason Micallef has slammed PBS’s “ethics and standards” over showing “sex on TVM” while referring to the airing of Love Island Malta.
As Love Island Malta continues to take the island by storm, the general views on the controversial show remain fairly mixed, with Micallef himself thinking that this shouldn’t be aired on the national broadcasting channel.
“The level of ethics and standards on PBS (TVM) has vanished, if it ever existed,” Micallef said on social media.
“The farce of the buying and selling of sex that is currently taking place on the national station should make us be ashamed.”
“For a national station to provide space for ‘porn stars’ to justify their work, if not celebrate it, is a true case of this country losing all sense of having a national station that should be everyone’s pride.”
He continued to say how it’s even worse that the show is being justified by the high amount of viewers that it’s attracting.
“It’s true what they say that sex sells. But is this what we want to see on the national station, an active brothel of sex, for which we are paying €6.3 million a year?”
This is not the first time that Micallef has criticised the national broadcasting channel for airing Love Island Malta, even going as far as calling it “trash”.
Meanwhile, many have lamented certain people’s approach to discussing topics such as sex work and having an OnlyFans, saying that there’s nothing wrong with people engaging in these behaviours.
