Drivers are being urged to drive with caution when approaching Mellieħa today after a large amount of shattered glass was found on the road in a central area.

“Lots of glass scattered across part of the Mellieħa roundabout (next to Valyou supermarket) drive carefully,” the Malta Road Traffic Updates page warned this morning.

While coloured cones had been set up to warn oncoming drivers, the colour of the glass raised concerns that drivers may think it is some other less dangerous substance that was spilt.

How the glass got there isn’t known, though there seems to be a large amount of it on the left side of the roundabout when coming from the Xemxija direction.
