‘She Was Never Here’: Paceville Club Denies Rumours That Fifth Coronavirus Victim Was Out Partying Last Weekend
The management of a Paceville club that rumours allege the fifth coronavirus victim in Malta visited has poured cold water on the claims.
“We are fully aware that there are a number of false rumours going around today on social media regarding the teenager which claim that she was at Shadow Club and Shadow Sundays this weekend,” the Shadow Club management said today.
“After contact with the family, we can confirm that these rumours are all false.”
An online witchhunt erupted yesterday evening after images apparently showing the 16-year-old case saying she was going to ignore the quarantine and go out partying last Sunday.
The family of the victim have since clarified her post, saying the 16-year-old was getting ready to come to Malta from Italy knowing she would be sent to quarantine, and had posted her comment as a joke, though it may have been in bad taste.
Since then, people were sharing the girl’s name and profile accounts and saying things like “I hope you die from the coronavirus” to the girl, who is currently recovering in Mater Dei.
The death threats and various threatening messages she’s received even led to girl’s friends to condemn the rumours and clarify what happened.
However, the club she was being accused of visiting has also denied the rumours.
“The teenager is sadly in hospital recovering from the virus and is in no way fit to be attending events of the sort. We’d also like to add the fact that Shadow Club is a 17+ venue and Shadow Sundays, in particular, has a strict 18+ policy – the girl mentioned is 16 years old,” the management continued.
“Please have some respect, the families and patients of the virus are already facing a difficult time with stress and shock, please have the decency to respect that fact and not spread rumours,” they said.
They ended by saying their thoughts and prayers were with the victims of the virus.
