Simon Mizzi Denies Claims He Manipulated Survey To Oust Bernard Grech

PN appointee Simon Mizzi has flat out dismissed any suggestions that he manipulated survey results to pave the way for Alex Borg to replace Bernard Grech.

These claims were made by some PL exponents after it was revealed that Mizzi Consultancy Ltd, which is co-owned by Mizzi, provides software for MaltaToday’s surveys.

Bernard Grech resigned two days after a MaltaToday survey found that the gap between PL and PN stood at 39,000 votes.

Adrian Delia said that he doesn’t believe this survey, that the gap was closer to 24,000 votes, and that Grech shouldn’t have resigned.

However, Mizzi said that he never tampered with the surveys or interfered in the interpretation of their results.

He said that he has been helping MaltaToday carry out their surveys for the past eight years, and that all PN leaders since then have been aware of this fact. In December 2021, Mizzi even confirmed this on record when questioned by Simon Mercieca.

“I would assume that the Prime Minister has known about this fact for a while too, even though we have never spoken about it,” he added.

Mizzi said that when he agreed to lead Borg’s new PN leadership delivery office, many people warned him that he must expect attacks and grow a thick skin.

“They weren’t wrong. My skin has been thick for a while and I have endured enough in life to not let anything stand in the way from doing what I must do with integrity so long as I act in good faith,” he said.

“One thing is certain. I have always given the best advice to everyone who approached me – regardless whether they were red or blue – and this includes many sitting MPs and ministers.”

“I wholly believe that politics should never be weaponised to destroy people but should be used as an instrument to help others.”
