Police made six arrests in raids at nearby nightclubs in San Ġwann, charging all the individuals with aggravated possession.

The six people, five men and one woman, were found with a variety of different drugs, some had ecstasy, others cannabis, cocaine, and LSD.

If any of the six were charged with simple possession, it would have meant that they would have had to appear before a tribunal, rather than the courts, which could carry a prison sentence.

Aggravated possession refers to possession, but it is not for the offender’s exclusive use.

The suspects are aged between 18 and 28. All of them are Maltese and live in Fgura, Ħamrun, Ħad Dingli u Ħal Qormi.

Investigations are underway.
