Sliema Double Murder: Muka Sentenced To Life, Dragomanski Gets 40 Years

Daniel Muka, found guilty last week of murdering two men in their Sliema home, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. His accomplice, Victor Dragomanski, was jailed for 40 years in a judgment delivered on Tuesday morning.

The killings of Christian Pandolfino and Ivor Maciejowski in August 2020 shocked Malta and drew international headlines. Muka was convicted unanimously by a jury on all counts, while Dragomanski was found guilty of theft leading to homicide by a 6–3 vote.

Madam Justice Natasha Galea Sciberras delivered the sentences in court, listing the charges and recounting the horrific details of the crime. Muka’s sentence includes six terms of solitary confinement, the forfeiture of his €10,000 bail bond, and an order to pay €24,000 in court costs.

A third man, Jesper Kristiansen, had already been tried separately and is serving a 40-year sentence for his role in the same crime.

During sentencing arguments last month, prosecutors pressed for life imprisonment for both men. Dragomanski’s lawyer, José Herrera, countered that his client’s sentence should reflect the narrower jury decision and his more limited role in the murder.

Police testified that the scene was one of chaos and violence. Maciejowski had been shot once in the forehead. Pandolfino was shot five times. Both were found in pools of blood on separate floors. Rooms in the house were ransacked, and signs suggested one of the victims had been stripped of jewellery.

Representing the victims’ families, lawyer Joe Giglio also called for life imprisonment and for both men to be placed in solitary confinement.

Madam Justice Galea Sciberras presided over the case. The prosecution was led by Assistant Attorney General lawyers Maria Francesca Spiteri and Kevin Valletta. Dragomanski was defended by José Herrera and Alex Scerri Herrera, while Muka was represented by legal aid lawyer Josette Sultana. The victims’ families were represented by Joe and Michaela Giglio.
