Sliema Drowning Victim Identified As Nepali National Robert Neupane

The man who drowned in the early morning at Exiles, Sliema has been identified as Robert Neupane.
The 25-year-old Nepali national, had been living in Malta since 2023 and was a resident of Qormi.
Neupane was swimming at Exiles when he found difficulty swimming. The man was helped out of the water by his friends and taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where he died shortly after.
It is still unknown as to why he found difficulty swimming.
Neupane was working as a food delivery courier.
“His untimely demise has left us all shocked,” the Non-Resident Nepali Association National Coordination Council Malta, (NRNA NCC) posted to Facebook.
They also wished their “deepest condolences” to his family.
A GoGetFunding campaign has been set up to collect financial support to repatriate Neupane to Nepal as soon as possible.
