Sliema Mayor Hit With Bottle And Called ‘Pervert’ For Stopping Public Urination In Qui-Si-Sana

Sliema Mayor John Pillow was attacked last night by a group of foreigners who were urinating in public at a bay in Qui-Si-Sana.
The attack came following a local council meeting, with Pillow deciding to check out the shoreline where complaints about foul water were registered.
“As I was going up the stairs, there were two people urinating on the rocks. Upon my intervention, the woman started cursing and calling me ‘perverted’ for trying to put a stop to the public urination,” Pillow told Lovin Malta.
When Pillow saw the display of hostility, he decided to start taking a video of the woman who continued to direct strings of profanity toward him.
“As soon as they saw this, a man that was with the woman decided to throw a coke bottle at me from around six metres away,” Pillow recounted.
Pillow then remained in the area icing his face, while waiting for the police to come after reporting the incident. However, the man escaped before they arrived.
“I am disappointed that the police took so long to come to the scene, and due to this, the man escaped before they had arrived,” he said.
Pillow is now calling for higher police presence, especially in the areas touching upon the coast of Sliema, warning of frequent unsafe situations.
