Sliema McDonald’s Workers ‘Doing Well’ After Unprovoked ‘Rowdy Altercation’

Workers injured in an altercation in a McDonald’s outlet in Sliema on Thursday are “doing well” following the unprovoked incident.
Speaking to Lovin Malta, a spokesperson for the food company said that some members of their crew suffered minor injuries after they had to “intervene to defuse a situation when a group of youths were being rowdy and disrupting other guests.”
“A number of our team suffered minor injuries as a result of the altercation and we’re pleased to report that they are all doing well. As the matter escalated, the Police were called in and the necessary reports were filed with the authorities,” the spokesperson continued.
During the incident, a number of people jumped over the counter to attack staff members, with one witness saying they “threw trays all over the place”.
The McDonald’s operators ended by saying that “our foremost priority is to ensure the safety of our people and our guests. All employees are trained to handle such situations effectively and all the related procedures were followed on the night in question. The company also deploys additional security personnel on busier days, including weekends”.
