Sliema Shooting Ruled As Accidental Following Initial Investigations

A 50-year-old Sliema resident is assisting the Police in relation to yesterday’s report of shooting in Sliema.

At around noon, the Police were informed of a shot that had probably taken place from an apartment in Triq il-Kbira.

A number of police immediately arrived at the scene where some people pointed to the area where the shot had likely taken place, as there was a building which had some damage.

The apartment where the shooting took place was immediately identified and the Police found the man there.

From the investigations which were carried out it turned out that the man, at around 2am, was in the apartment when the gun mysteriously went off accidentally.

Fortunately no one was hurt.

Magistrate Abigail Critien is leading an inquiry and appointed a number of experts to assist while police investigations are still ongoing.
