‘So Sad To Hear This’: Qormi Favourite Fredy’s Diner Is Closing Down Due To ‘Personal Reasons’

Fredy’s Diner, a local favourite in Qormi known for its next-level meats, quirky fried boxes and a larger-than-life head chef/owner, has announced that it will be permanently shutting down.

“Dear all, the Stellini family has decided to permanently shut down operations for Fredy’s Diner,” the restaurant said in a public post over the weekend.

“We know that this might come as a shock to some of you, but the decision stems from personal reasons.”

Fredy’s quickly became a hit due to its no-holds-barred reverence for American style cooking.

From Sloppy Joes to in-house smoked brisket to the crispiest chicken sandwiches on the island, Fredy’s was renowned by many as the perfect place for a cheat meal.

They were even the restaurant that launched the out-of-the-box Donkey Burger a while back.

The announcement of Fredy’s closure was met by widespread sadness, with some saying “all the lovely restaurants in Malta are closing down”, another just saying “so sad to hear this”, and leading Maltese chef Rafel Sammut posting a series of crying face emojis.

Located right outside of St Sebastian Church in Qormi, diners have one final chance to grab some of their favourite bites before the closure on the 13th of October.

“The last day of operation and service will be on Sunday, the 13th of October where we will be serving both lunch and dinner,” Fredy’s said, before closing off with a ‘We Love You’.

Right back atcha, Fredy’s, and thanks for all the fun times.
