Nationalist Party PAC members have asked Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa to investigate possible perjury after Keith Schembri’s testimony during the second PAC hearing.

On Tuesday, the former Chief of Staff appeared in front of the PAC committee, and during his testimony, he alleged that both Former Finance Minister Edward Scicluna and ex-police commissioner Silvio Valletta lied under oath during the inquiry into Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder.

“Someone, either Scicluna, Schembri, or Valletta, is not telling the truth, even though they swore under oath,” PAC chairperson Darren Carrabot wrote on social media.

“We’ve ended up with an ex-Finance Minister, an ex-police commissioner, and an ex-chief of staff, all lying about each other,” he lamented.

“A false testimony under oath is a criminal act,” he concluded.

Therefore, the PN has now asked police commissioner Angelo Gafa to step in and investigate possible perjury and take all the necessary steps possible.

Part of the claims which were made this week by Schembri was that Scicluna would have been involved in making big decisions as Finance Minister after Scicluna had said that major decisions were made by a smaller inner circle.

Schembri also told the PAC that there were many lies told during the public inquiry.
