Speaker Orders TVM To Update Title Of Bernard Grech Climate Change Speech Report
Speaker Anġlu Farrugia has ordered TVM to update the title of a news article about a speech PN leader Bernard gave about climate change.
Grech complained to the Speaker after TVM quoted him as saying that “climate change is an obstacle to economic growth”.
In his speech, Grech had said that “many people, including those on the other side of the House, view climate change as an obstacle to economic growth and success”.
However, he followed it up by saying he believes that, with “intelligence, creativity and a clear political commitment”, climate change action can “complement a nation’s economic progress”.
“PBS twisted my words and quoted the exact opposite of what I actually said,” Grech warned.
Today, Speaker Farrugia ruled in favour of Grech and said PBS’ headline didn’t accurately reflect the PN leader’s speech and that its article didn’t quote his statement in its entirety.
He therefore ordered PBS to update its news article.
