Sports retail giant Sportsdirect.com is officially looking for sales assistants in Malta, offering €5 per hour and a 20% staff discount.

In a job listing on www.jobsinmalta.com, the company says it is looking for “dynamic, energetic and friendly” sales assistants to join their team on a part-time basis, guaranteed 7 hours a week, which can be extended up to 39 hours during busy periods.

“If you want to work for a growing international company which offers new challenges and experiences daily where you will work in a friendly environment that you can learn something new in every day then Sports Direct want you!”

The company offers €5 per hour plus bonuses, commission on selected products, as well as a coveted 20% staff discount.

Another job listing is for a Retail Floor Supervisor, offering a more attractive package of between €20,000 and €22,000 per year.

Lovin Malta broke the news last month about that the international seller of sports gear will be branching out to Malta after the brand set up a Maltese company registered at the Mrieħel offices of corporate services providers Exco Services Ltd.

In a company document, Sports Direct said it has set up its Maltese company to “establish, manage and operate retail stores and to carry on the business of retailers and importers of all kinds of sports and leisure apparel and accessories”.

Sports Direct is one of the most famous sports retail providers in the world and has branches in several countries, from Iceland to Malaysia. It is owned by British entrepreneur Mike Ashley, who is also the owner of Premier League team Newcastle United.
