St James Hospital Targeted By Sophisticated Cyber-Attack

St James Hospital has confirmed it was recently targeted by a sophisticated cyber-attack.
The private hospital group said in a statement that the incident occurred on 18th April and was immediately contained.
Containment protocols were activated and systems were physically isolated from external networks to prevent further access.
Meanwhile, the hospital’s IT, legal, and security teams, supported by external experts, are conducting a comprehensive technical and forensic investigation to determine the nature and scope of the attack, including whether any sensitive information may have been accessed.
An initial notification has been submitted to the competent authorities, and a further assessment is currently underway to determine whether additional notifications are required. The police have also been informed.
St James confirmed that it remains in full control of its systems and servers, and that all scheduled medical appointments and procedures are proceeding as planned, with no anticipated disruption to patient care.
