Stop Them Pigging Out: PN Calls Monday Protest Over Minister’s Partner’s Phantom Job
The Nationalist Party (PN) has called for a protest on Monday at 6pm, rallying against the latest scandal involving Ministers Clint Camilleri and Clayton Bartolo and Bartolo’s partner, Amanda Muscat.
“Another week, another scandal from our government,” PN leader Bernard Grech stated in a Facebook post this morning. “We are all paying for their corruption.”
The uproar follows a standards commission inquiry revealing that Muscat, Bartolo’s partner and former secretary, was awarded high-paying consultancy roles across both ministries. Muscat’s salary began at €62,000 and later rose to €68,000—yet the inquiry found scant evidence of her doing more than basic secretarial tasks. Additionally, the report concluded she was unqualified for her supposed role as a policy consultant.

The findings have sparked public frustration and calls for both ministers’ resignations, which they have resisted. Bartolo issued a conditional apology, while Camilleri has remained defiant, claiming no wrongdoing. Prime Minister Robert Abela, meanwhile, has stood by the ministers, telling the press their apologies suffice and no further action is necessary.
“The Prime Minister, weak as he is, keeps finding excuses to do nothing. We’re paying for their mistakes while they continue ‘pigging out.’ Don’t let them!” Grech’s post continued.
If you’re frustrated with the situation, PN encourages you to join the protest, set to begin at 6pm outside Parliament. It may even be a chance to make your voice heard directly as ministers arrive for the session.
