With just days to go before Autumn hits, the Maltese are set to enjoy the last few days of sunshine as the weather begins to cool down, but remain sunny, ahead of potential storms near Malta over the weekend.
Today’s weather is set to be mostly sunny, with some clouds, and light winds and a generally calm sea, with temperatures not exceeding 29°C. However, the temperature is set to drop by 3 degrees by the weekend as cooler air approaches Malta.
“An influx of cooler air into the central Mediterranean this coming weekend will bring about a significant drop in temperature across Malta and Gozo so much so that highs are not expected to exceed 26°C on both Saturday and Sunday,” the Malta Weather page said last night.
They also warned that there is a good chance that storms hit near the island this weekend
“An influx of cooler and unstable air is expected to penetrate the central Mediterranean this coming weekend with rain showers and thunderstorms close to the Maltese Islands,” the Weather Page warned yesterday as well.
With just days to go before the summer sunshine’s end, many Maltese reacted to the news by planning their last beach break or picnic – but many others were just happy to see the end of the blistering heat that roasted the island over the summer months, and we can’t blame them.
