Explore The Sacred And Natural In Miriam Sorrell’s ‘Saints & Trees’ Exhibition
Gozo-based artist Miriam Sorrell is inviting art lovers to explore the sacred connection between spirit and nature in her upcoming exhibition, Saints & Trees, opening on 1st December at the Citadel Cultural Centre in Victoria, Gozo. Running throughout the month, the exhibition promises a vibrant journey where the Divine and the natural coexist in harmony.
Sorrell’s mixed-media works pair iconic figures such as Madonna Ta’ Pinu with trees that act as their earthly counterparts, rooted, enduring, and life-giving.
Richly coloured and vividly painted, the canvases serve as a reminder of the lushness and serenity that once defined Malta and Gozo, reawakening a collective longing for a greener, more reverent way of life.
“They are the language of my yearning soul in colour,” says Sorrell, whose work celebrates both spiritual reverence and ecological awareness.
Born in London and now based in Gozo, Miriam Sorrell is also internationally recognised as the creator of the award-winning Mouthwatering Vegan blog and cookbook. With Saints & Trees, she returns to her first passion, painting, creating a dialogue between Heaven and Earth and imagining Malta and Gozo as sanctuaries of natural and spiritual renewal.
