Jeanette Zammit started a campaign for her niece Ena Marie, and has raised over €34,000 by an impressive 688% increase.

In 2021, the 15-year old fell seriously ill, but slowly began to recover. However, just before this new year on 20th December, Ena Marie was diagnosed with a brain tumour – and she was shortly transmitted to Great Ormond Hospital, in London, to undertake a six-hour brain surgery.

”Just this week she is starting treatment in the UK and her family needs to be around her, so I will be attempting to run 50km on 29th January 2023, to raise some funds to support her and her family at this difficult time,” Zammit exclaims.

The girl and her family will spend around nine months in the UK.

If you’d like to donate to Ena Marie, you may access the fundraiser by following this link.

Times of Malta reported that Ena Marie’s mother, Maria, describes her daughter as being very positive and always baring a smile on her face, ”when we were in hospital this Christmas, she organised buying small gifts to cheer up all the other children in her ward”.

Zammit had originally planned to do the run and raise funds for a local charity, but following her niece’s sudden illness, Zammit is now collecting money to help support her niece and the family as they go through this tough time.

The planning for treatment will depend on the outcome of pathology results which are still pending.

Zammit will run 50km on 29th January, and with gratitude, will continue to raise more money.
