Watch: UEFA Deputy Congratulates Ħamrun Spartans For Historic Achievement
UEFA Deputy General Secretary, Giorgio Marchetti, acknowledged the Ħamrun Spartans team for this achievement.
“A special welcome and congratulations to the clubs and the associations stepping onto the European stage for the first time like Ħamrun Spartans Fc, the first club in Malta to reach this stage of a UEFA Club Competition. Congratulations.”
This took place during the draw ceremony for the Europa League and the Conference League, in which the Maltese champions will be participating.
Present at this ceremony in Monaco were the President of Ħamrun Spartans FC, Joseph Portelli, as well as the club’s Chief Executive, Marcel Bonnici.
This is after Ħamrun Spartans have made Malta proud, securing a place in the UEFA Conference League group stage after a 2-2 draw against Latvian club FC RFS.
The team secured the win with a 3-2 aggregate score, having held their advantage from a 1-0 triumph in the first leg.
