A group of students picketed a visit by European Parliament President Roberta Metsola to MCAST with signs accusing her of enabling genocide in Gaza.

“Breaking – students greet European Parliament President, Roberta Metsola, with ‘Enabler of Genocide’ placards during her PR stunt at the MCAST in Paola, Malta,” Moviment Graffitti said.

“They accused Roberta Metsola of having blood on her hands after exchanging handshakes with Israeli war criminals and standing with an occupying state while it was indiscriminately brutalising Palestinians.”

Metsola, as well as EC President Ursula von der Leyen, have come under increased fire for their visit to Israel in the wake of the 7th October Hamas attacks. The Maltese politician has since taken on a more nuanced stance to the conflict.

“Taking an imbalanced approach is the worst mistake you can make in sensitive situations like this. Even more seriously, perhaps she ignored the history between Israel and Palestine,” Prime Minister Robert Abela said recently.
