Now that we’re well into April and spring has properly kicked off, the weather in Malta has seen welcomed warm spells hit the islands. Following the very strong Force 8 (sometimes even going all the way up to 9) winds that pelted Malta over Sunday night, however, some people have wondered whether more wind and even rain might be on the table for this week. Well, the weather for the next couple of days is indeed a mixed bag, but you’ll be happy to know things are looking up.

The temperature from today to Wednesday will be stabilising at 20°C, going up by another degree on Thursday. The sun should be making a couple of appearances over the week, at times hidden due to partly and mainly cloudy days all throughout the week. Evenings will also be gradually going up, starting from 13°C tonight and going up to 15°C on Wednesday.

Definitely the main talking point of Sunday evening, the wind will be returning with a much milder force this week, with maximum Forces of 4 and 5 over days like Wednesday calming down to 2 and 3 on Thursday. This week will see the wind shift from westerly and northerly winds on Monday to eastern and southern ones.

The weekend, on the other hand, will be bringing with it two main highlights; sunnier moments and stronger winds.

Friday the 13th is looking like a relatively lucky day for anyone who’s on leave, with a mostly sunny day with highs of 21°C. The wind will only be going up to a maximum of Force 4, but that’s all set to change by Saturday.

Easterly winds of Forces 6 and 7 will pelt the islands on Saturday, which will definitely make those lows of 14°C feel even chillier.

Fortunately it’s all set to calm down by Sunday, with the wind going down to Force 3 and 4 and lows going slightly up to 15°C. The highs, on the other hand, will yet again be 20°C.

This week will eventually see the UV index go up from 6 to 7, which means sunblock time is slowly yet very steadily approaching.
