A swimming ban has been imposed in Qui Si Sana, Sliema, due to a sewage leak.

The Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health issued the ban due to sewage seeping into the sea, affecting the bathing water quality and presenting potential risk to bathers’ health.

Officials, with the help of the Waste Water Unit have investigated the case and confirmed that the source is coming from a defective drainage system of a private establishment in the area.

Signs to warn against swimming have been put up and once the water quality is restored, the signs will be removed and another statement will be issued to notify the public that bathing is safe.
