Swimmer Dies In Mellieħa As Another Man In His Group Found Clinging To The Cliffs

At 16:35, police were informed that 3 persons found themselves in difficulty while swimming in Coral Lagoon in l-Aħrax, Mellieħa.

Armed Forces Malta and Civil Protection Department members were on scene, and found a 29-year-old Mexican clinging to one of the cliffside and a 24-year-old Colombian struggling to exit the water.

They were unable to locate the third man, a 25-year-old Colombian, when they had arrived but his body was later recovered from the sea.

The two other men were sent for medical assessments, their condition is currently unknown.

Police investigations are currently underway, with Magistrate Doreen Clarke overseeing the inquiry.
