The Environmental Health Directorate has just issued a notice for swimmers to avoid swimming at Balluta Bay due to contaminated water.

“The Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health wishes to notify you that until further notice bathing is not recommended,” it said in a statement.

“This is due to the presence of microbiological contamination affecting the bathing water quality and presenting a risk to bathers’ health at Balluta bay around the Waterpolo Pitch in Sliema.”

The public is also kindly being requested to contact the Environmental Health Directorate between 7am and 3pm on telephone number 21337333, or by calling personally at its offices at Continental Business Centre, Old Railway Track, in Santa Venera.

Questions can also be sent by email on [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected].
