A 50-year-old man is fighting for his life after a fall on a construction site in Swieqi today.

The man, from Tarxien, is believed to have fallen at least one storey on a site in Triq Santu Wistin, Swieqi, at around 9.30am this morning.

Police said the man was working when the accident occurred.

Members of the Police Force as well as members of the Civil Protection Department and medical team were sent on scene to assist the man.

He was rushed to Mater Dei hospital where he was confirmed to be suffering from serious injuries.

Magistrate Astrid Grima has opened an inquiry into the accident.
