Teen Tourist Grievously Injured By Boat Propeller In Comino’s Blue Lagoon

An 18-year-old Spanish tourist is being treated for serious leg injuries after she was struck by a boat propeller while boarding in Comino’s Blue Lagoon on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 4.30pm, police said, when the young woman was attempting to board a boat whose engine was still running. As she climbed aboard, she was hit by the vessel’s propeller, which caused significant damage to her leg.
Emergency Response and Rescue Corps personnel were on site and administered immediate first aid. She was later transferred to Gozo General Hospital by emergency services for further treatment. Her condition has not yet been publicly disclosed, but police confirmed the injuries are classified as grievous.
The accident took place in one of Malta’s most popular tourist hotspots, known for its crystal-clear waters and busy boat traffic during the summer months. It remains unclear whether the boat was a private vessel or part of a commercial tour. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
Police investigations are ongoing to determine exactly what happened and whether any safety regulations were breached. It is not yet known if the boat operator will face any charges
