A group of teenagers who are campaigning for the protection of trees in Malta this morning visited Santa Luċija were 295 trees are being felled to make way for underground tunnels.

The teenagers, who organised last week’s protest about the Central Link Project, placed papers with black crosses on each of the trees.

“This is to represent a cemetery because it feels like a cemetery,” Sasha Vella, 19, said.

She added that it while it was already too late for Santa Luċija, the trees around the Central Link Project between Rabat and Attard could still be saved. This is why people should attend more protests, the group said.
